The mother of former child actor Rory Sykes, who was blind and suffered from cerebral Palsy, has confirmed his death in the Los Angeles wildfires.

The British-born Australian citizen appeared in the UK children’s television show Kiddy Kapers in the 1990s. He also served as a motivational speaker as well as aiding his mother in the setting up of the Happy Charity organisation.

Taking to social media to confirm her son’s death, Shelley Sykes wrote: ‘It is with great sadness that I have to announce the death of my beautiful son @Rorysykes to the Malibu fires yesteday.
